We met with the service volunteers (they can't call themselves missionaries since they can't proselyte and due to the politics of the region) in the Galilee branch house and they recommended that we go to see the "Jesus Boat". Basically, after several years of drought, the level of the lake had dropped several feet, and two brothers found a boat that dates back to the first century. It is likely a boat very similar to what Peter and Andrew would have been using to fish and what would have carried the early apostles across the Galilee. A model of what the complete boat probably looked like also shows a deck and large sail. This dock is within walking distance of the ruins of Peter's home and is built on top of an ancient dock making it a place that surely these early apostles were familiar with. It's easy to imagine that their call to follow Christ came from a setting just like this.
