Our next stop in Galilee was Church of the Primacy of St. Peter. Right away I knew this would be one of my favorite places we visited. Situated right on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, this church was built right on the rock where it is said Jesus sat and prepared food for the Apostles after the resurrection. Here he said to Peter, "Feed my sheep". There are steps down from the place where this is said to have happened carved into the ancient rock (outside of the church) that led into the Sea. Mensa Christi means table of Christ, and this has been a revered spot since at least 380 AD. Israel is filled with religious sites, some are historic - as in they are likely the place of the actual event, while others are more traditional - as in an event is said to happened around here. The first church was built here early enough that this could have been the spot where this actually happened. These more historic spots are the sights that really had an impact on me during our trip.
