Show Me Fun

 We had a great visit in Missouri last week. It was great to see our boys spend time with family and wrestling with their cousins.

Each of our boys had their own favorite parts of the trip. Pierce said his favorite part was playing with his Uncle's dog (we're going to have to get this kid a dog of his own), Cash liked playing at this playground he's pictured in, and Beau's favorite part was being able to play PS2 video games in the car during the long drive. I guess we could have saved the gas and just parked in the driveway at home for him.

We were going to go to Silver Dollar City, but instead opted for Star Wars Legos for the kids to put together and play while we were at Grandmas. Now if only this place wasn't a two day drive away...

Eddie's Party

 We stopped off in Denver on our way to visit some of my family in Missouri just in time for Eddie's 6th birthday party.

Deana and Derrick went all out with the Star Wars theme and trained a bunch of 5-7 year-old kids the skills required for all Jedi Master.

A week later, these robes and light sabers still get daily use.

Derbified

The Pinewood derby has come a long way in the last 20 years. Beau is about to be a Cub so they invited him to build and race a car. This first picture is right before the first race and you may be able to see the excitement in his face. They weren’t kidding around with this track they brought in – all computerized timing with displays on a projector of who won each heat. 

Everyone knows that the racing is not really for the kids but for the dads, so I took the building of the car a bit serious and read all kinds of tips online. I had the digital scale out to add the exact proper weight to the hundredth ounce and had the wheels properly aligned and lubed. Our car did really well and - thanks to a computer glitch that went our way - we won first overall.
