Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

 

Few events are so important in the development of a kid than the Pinewood Derby. At least that's what dads all over tell themselves as they spend hours cutting, sanding, drilling, and weighing cars. All three boys were very excited to design and build cars this year, and their designs were all just enough different that I thought that after this year I'd be able to figure out how to create an ultimate winning car for next year. So we went to work in the dining room floor car shop. 

There were 27 cars entered, and things worked out pretty well for us this year. Beau's car went undefeated the whole night. 12 races on a 4 lane track and 12 first place finishes! A very fun night of racing...

Beau's Baptism

We are very proud of Beau, who was very excited last weekend to be baptized. I had a friend call this a dad payday, and it certainly was.

I'm going to sound like an old man here, but I remember thinking on the day our big tuna was born that some day I'd get to baptize him. It's crazy that this day has already come.

We had one last surprise for him as part of the day. Beau's grandparents brought him up his favorite Cougar game-day tradition - Cougar Tails and hot chocolate to serve as the refreshments.

A couple of days later Beau asked me if he could get baptized again, and as I'm thinking about some profound answer to his question, I first asked, "Why do you ask?" He responded, "Because I want to eat more Cougar Tails."

Looks like we'll finally get to use this!

Marta has "known" for quite a long time, but it was medically confirmed  this afternoon that we're having a little girl!

She's due on our anniversary in May.
